Privacy policy
Last updated: October 11, 2026
This policy explains what Store Valuation (“the app”, “we”, “us”), the free Shopify store valuation calculator from Exit Advisor (ExitAdvisor.io), collects when you install it, how we use it to estimate what your ecommerce business is worth, and your choices. Questions: operations@exitadvisor.io.
What we collect
When you install the app, we access the following through Shopify's API, read-only:
- Order totals: order amounts, refunds, cancellations and dates for up to the last 24 months.
- Order line items: price, quantity, product type and vendor, used to work out your niche and supplier concentration.
- Product costs: the unit cost you entered in Shopify, used to calculate profit.
- Counts: the number of customers and products. We read the count only, not customer records.
- Store details: store name, store email and contact email, currency and the date the store was created.
We do not store your customers' names, emails, addresses, phone numbers or payment details. We store only totals and summaries calculated from your orders.
If you use the premium cost assistant, we also store the profit margin you give us, so we can use it in your valuation.
How we use it
- To calculate your Shopify store's estimated market value (an ecommerce business valuation based on profit (SDE) and revenue multiples), and to show its risks and value levers.
- To keep the estimate current as new orders, cancellations and refunds come in, and with a daily refresh.
- To let the Exit Advisor team (ExitAdvisor.io) follow up about selling your Shopify business. When the app first values your store, and whenever you click “Privately list for buyers”, we send our team your store name, store domain, contact email and a summary of the valuation (estimated value, 12-month revenue and profit, niche).
- To manage your premium subscription, which Shopify bills and processes for us.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who processes it for us
- Shopify: provides the store data and handles billing.
- Fly.io: hosts the app and its database, in the United States, on encrypted storage.
- Resend: delivers our internal email alerts to the Exit Advisor team.
- Anthropic: if AI features are enabled, provides the AI model behind the premium cost assistant and market benchmark. We send it store-level totals and the messages you type into the assistant, never customer data.
How long we keep it
We keep your store's data while the app is installed. When you uninstall, Shopify notifies us, and we delete your store's data and access tokens when Shopify sends its data-deletion request (normally within 48 hours of uninstalling). Lead details already emailed to the Exit Advisor team may be kept in our business records; ask us to delete them at any time.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the data we hold about your store, or object to our follow-up, by emailing operations@exitadvisor.io. We respond to Shopify's privacy requests (customer data requests, customer deletion and store deletion) automatically. Because we do not store individual customer records, there is normally no customer data to return or delete.
Security
Access to your store is read-only. Data is sent over encrypted connections and stored on encrypted disks. Secret keys are kept in our hosting provider's secret store and are never sent to your browser.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above. Material changes will be shown in the app.
